- Hubbard White Mountain Broiler – It is a quiet bird, extremely fast growing, well-feathered and has excellent conformation. It is the type that many hatcheries refer to as “cornish cross” and is fully capable of reaching a weight of 4 lbs. in 6 to 7 weeks. They also make excellent roasters, rapidly attaining the 7 to 8 lbs. required for this type of bird. The pullets ay a reasonable amount of eggs for several months if not allowed to become too fat.

- Rhode Island Red – Another fine all around breed that is a great brown egg producer. They are very hardy and make a dandy small flock for layers. They also make good eating so you have a fine all purpose flock with these Reds.

- White Rocks – This old-time favorite is still one of the best brown egg layers. Their size and good egg production make them an all time favorite.

- Silverlaced Wyandotte – Silver laced Wyandotte Silver & Black. These deep wide bodies brown birds are good egg layers very docile great dual-purpose.

- Isa Browns hold about 60% of the World Brown Egg Market. All other egg laying breeds are judged and compared to these. They offer you exceptional egg output, resulting in low feed conversion. Bred for large egg size, the in-built adaptability allows you to produce an average egg size from 62 to 65 grams or so. Isa Browns have a current livability of 97.3% and hen housed average production to 76 weeks is 321 eggs. Average egg weight is 62.8 g.
